Omega 3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that are naturally found, above all, in deep-sea cold water fish oils. These substances are defined as essential because our bodies are not capable of synthesising them and, consequently, they must be assumed through the diet or as supplements.
Over recent decades, human omega 3 intake through food has dropped enormously in industrialised countries due to the massive adoption of a dietary system tending to favour very refined foodstuffs low in omega 3. According to Barry Sears, in order to obtain a lasting state of psychophysical wellbeing, it is necessary to consume 2.5 g of omega 3 fatty acids each day.
To reach consumption of 2.5 g of omega 3 each day solely through diet would be very complex; indeed, it would be necessary to consume very large quantities of fish, considering that:
100 g of sardines = 1g of omega 3
200+ g of salmon = 1g of omega 3
This would mean eating approx. 500 g of salmon or more than 200 g of sardines each day.

OMEGA 3 CONSUMPTION IS RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE
It may be taken any time during the day, in a single dose or split up and taken at main meals (for example, 4 capsules at lunch and dinner). Some maintain that taking it as a single dose in the morning before breakfast reinforces effectiveness.
Omega 3 fatty acids have a rather long metabolic lifespan: if one day you should forget to take them, then simply double the dose the following day.
